Murray Bridge.

Murray Bridge, South Australia - 1879

Murray Bridge

The bridge was designed by William Dempsey who was the UK consultant for South Australia. Steel pins were used, and other joints were bolted for easy erection. The bridge commenced in 1873, and was completed in 1879. It was initially opened for road traffic, and rails were not laid until 1886.
